wow post alert

if you dont wanna read a rant about World of Warcraft just move along lol.

I think dammage reports being spammed while in instances is a bad idea. It makes the dammage dealers all feel they have to out do each other. I mean, sure... a mage and warlock can compete w/ a warrior in damage, but they should do it in a way that lets the warrior at least TRY to keep most of the aggro (in multiple mobs).

Think my comment is stupid? Well just look at it this way... say a group had 2 healers, if we were competeing to be at the top of the'healing report' think of how much mana we would waste double healing just to try to be first or get credit. But if we were to work togeather the group would be in full health at all times and who freeking cares who is on top of the stupid list? I mean, it matters more that we all make it thru alive and w/ good loot more doesn't it?

And I don't think that people necessarily do this on purpose, but the damage reports spammed in the instance every 5 mins tend to bring that out. I think they should just do it at the end.

If a cloth wearer takes all aggro, I (as a healer) *can* keep them and everyone else alive...but it does take *all* my mana. So then I have to sit and
drink between EVERY mob group to get it back. (so i can heal for the next group) And if the group doesnt want to wait for me to drink
(which is common) and just run off, I cant heal if im not there, or if i jump up to save them w/ partial mana thats no good either.

All I am saying is everyone needs to learn to let the tank tank...let them get aggro established, or be ready to wait for the healer to drink to get
mana back.

We only have so much mana! We don't do it on purpose!

Frankly groups suck. This is a perfect example of why I almost exclusively work solo.

The problem with that is that most of the best instances require groups to do else you wipe out hard. And if you haven't gotten used to being in a group before that point, group dynamic can be awkward... sometimes. Some players have a natural affinity for grouping but even so, getting used to an instance... knowing when and how to pull can be difficult.

well yes

but i normally have good luck w/ the people in my guild in groups. And i have learned that the quickest way for me to level is take my priest to instances w/ groups. so *sigh* i will just live w/ it till 60 i guess lol.

That's what makes WoW so different from EQ. EQ users are known for patience and sitting around. WoW users are too used to running around. Warriors have to sit and regen health a lot and can't just flat out run around but most other classes can.

WoW is strange that way. And plus it's HARD for a tank to hold agro. Even with improved taunt I have problems-- especially with AOE stuff. Casters for healing and damage and hunters are usually the worst to hold agro for. I think. Healing agro can be hard to control as well.

yes but as a priest i can controll my own aggro. (fade, or if still timming out on fade, sheild myself and wait for someone to take it from me)

And I think part of the problem might have been that I was just healing *too* well. If i let them feel a little of the aggro they were taking and have to eat after a battle instead of me keeping them at 100% maybe that would cool their jets a little.

hmmm gonna try that next time. I dunno i guess i am just used to going w/ people that I really know already. That was just a bad group for me :(

Yep. That mostly means you're a good priest though. There's a lot of bad priests out there and casters have a reaaaal hard time with agro. When it's one mob or two mobs at a time, it's easier but more and it's pretty hairy. Especially if there are runners.

Bad groups are a dime a dozen these days... going with people you know tends to be the best way but as more and more get experience, it gets easier.

"I mean, sure... a mage and warlock can compete w/ a warrior in damage, but they should do it in a way that lets the warrior at least TRY to keep most of the aggro (in multiple mobs). "

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahh.............. The day a warrior can come CLOSE to a mage and warlock... I'll be exceedingly surprised. Even with max damage spec, it'd be rough.

That's always been a problem with WoW and why most Guild groups or organized groups are better than pickup groups. I personally have the most trouble trying to contain adds and keeping them from running.

Aggrevations between trying to tank and solo and control adds and help with runners, etc... that's what made me give up on my warrior-- until I can give him very nice gear and some gold to help fund him.
